Daryl Jay Robinson October 13, 1963 – July 10, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card DARYL JAY ROBINSON was born October 13, 1963 to the union of Lawrence and Barbara Moye’ Robinson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He departed his life peacefully after a short illness on July 10, 2018. Daryl was a graduate of North Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
After high school, Daryl joined the United States Navy where he entered Naval Aviation Intelligence Officer School and began his career as an engineer. Daryl furthered his engineering career by earning his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. He was employed by Abbott Laboratories, PPG Industries, and Stepan Company.
Daryl was most proud of his work as a chemical engineer in Optical Technology at PPG where he collaborated with other scientists to develop the technology we know today as Transitions® optical lens. He received numerous technology awards and global recognitions from PPG, as well as co-authorship of two patents for these efforts. Daryl accepted Christ while in the U.S. Navy but according to him, “did not complete the process”.
On July 11, 2003, the day before his wedding, he was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Greenwood, S.C. The next day, July 12, 2003, he was united in holy matrimony with Pamela Andrea Bentley in a ceremony at Savannah Lakes in McCormick, SC. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sheila Diane Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Pamela Bentley-Robinson; a sister-in-law, Beverly Bentley of Forestville, MD, a mother-in-law, Thelma Watson Bentley of Columbia, SC; sisters and brothers, Sylvia Robinson-Karvillas of Lund, Sweden, Tyrone Robinson of San Francisco, CA, Jo-Ann Robinson-Brooks of New Orleans, LA, Anthony Robinson and Corwyn Robinson both of Miami, FL, Lawrence Robinson III, Dominic Cunningham and Latasha Owney all of Milwaukee, WI; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Reverend Raymond Adams presiding. Reverend Keith Cromer officiating and assisted by Reverend Roy Lee Norman and Reverend Willie N. Norman.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 P.M. Pallbearers will be Valery Hill, Anthony Robinson, Robert Watson, Jr., Kevin Murphy, Anthony Walls and Barry Walls. Flower Bearers will be cousins.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 4 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. Parks Funeral Home is assisting the Bentley-Robinson family.
