Obituary of David Walter Stein David Walter Stein, 77, of Esville, our devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Friday, April 27, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. Dave was born in Bay City on April 19, 1941, the son of the late Frank and Alma (Strauss) Stein. He was a 1960 graduate of Bay City Central and went on to attend Bay City Junior College.

While frequenting State Park as a teenager, David met the former Barbara Williamson on a Sunday afternoon. They were eventually united in marriage on November 23, 1963. Dave retired from General Motors – Powertrain as a supervisor after 36 years of service.

Dave was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Those who knew Dave, will always remember his love for his 2016 Corvette. He was a member of the Bay City Corvette Club, loved polka and bluegrass music and enjoyed attending the Wheatland Music Festival every year.

Dave loved fishing, hunting, and spending time at “The Lodge” in Rudyard with his best friend, Tom Maida. An avid Detroit Tigers fan, Dave also enjoyed softball and blooper ball, along with attending classic car shows. His love for life will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara Stein and their son, David R. Stein. He was the loving grandpa of Courtney L. Stein and will be deeply missed by his sister, Lynne (Dwain) Laramie. Also surviving are his in-laws, Kenneth Hawes, Wayne (Barbara) Williamson and Susanne Williamson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends from Hooligans, especially Daryll.

In addition to his parents, Dave was welcomed home to heaven by his infant brother, Richard; sister, Jan Hawes, and brother-in-law, Thomas Williamson. David’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM until David’s 12:00 Noon Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd. , Hampton Twp.

Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with a reception to follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski’s. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Bay Medical Care Facility, 1 West and Dave’s physical therapists for their compassionate care.
