Obituary of Daniel James Fleming Daniel James Fleming, 59, of Fairgrove, our hardworking, fun loving, and comedic father, fiancé, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on February 21, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. Daniel was born in Marlette, on August 2, 1958, the son of late H. James and Lucille (McDaniel) Fleming. He attended Marlette High School and went on to take many certification classes in automotive repair and service, becoming an ASE certified mechanic.

Dan worked as a Technical Specialist for the Morley Company in Saginaw and was a service technician for many Muffler Man locations. He owned and operated State Wide Service and St. Helen Towing in St. Helen, and Poor Boyz Auto in Bad Axe for many years. He also taught automotive classes at Baker College.

Dan enjoyed owning, riding, and repairing motorcycles – especially his newly purchased Harley Davidson Ultra Lite, snowmobiles, motorboats, tractors, and cars. He attended the I-500 Snowmobile race almost every year since its inception. Dan was an avid hunter, taking large game hunting trips with his father and friends – making sure to never miss a Michigan whitetail deer hunting season.

He was a 33 degree Mason, a Shriner, and a Past Master of the Gaylord Lodge. Dan also enjoyed driving a Tin Lizzie Shrine car in parades with his father. Dan was the champion of his neighbors in need – especially the “little old ladies” and will be missed dearly by everyone.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Leslie (Laressa) Fleming of Grand Rapids; his fiancé, Alyson Corcoran; granddaughters, Charlotte Fleming and Branwen Hahler-Fleming; his five sisters, Judy Hudson of Decker, Nancy (Curt) Bitterling of Port Austin, Mary (Roger) Barnes of Port Austin, Lois (Ernest) Stukes of Cheney, WA, and Linda (Terry) Warner of Marlette; his Labrador fur buddies, Maxine and Harley, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Dan was welcomed home to heaven by his wife, Carolyn Fleming, together they shared 20 years of marriage before she sadly passed in 2001. Dan’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 1:00 PM until the time of his 3:00 PM Celebration of Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd.

, Hampton Twp. Pastor Michael Lynch will officiate with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
