Donna Mae was born February 4, 1943, to Howard and Minnie (DeFries) Miller in Breckenridge, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church of Doran. She grew up and attended school in Doran and Breckenridge.

On March 23, 1963, Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth Hanson. Side by side, they raised three sons in Wheaton. Donna worked at the Wheaton Area School cooking from 1978 until 2015 and also as a CNA at the Traverse Care Center from 1993 to 2003.

When her husband of 36 years passed away, Donna continued to live in the same house she and Kenny raised their wonderful boys; she couldn’t bear the thought of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren spending time anywhere else but the home she and Kenny raised their boys in. Donna took pleasure in cooking and baking and coffee with friends. She made sure that everyone felt loved and welcome in her home.

She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She rarely missed a sporting event or concert her loved ones were involved in; she was their #1 fan! She was often greeted at the door by her great-grandchildren with the question, “Did you bake us any banana bread?

”. She will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to meet her and call her a friend. She was known as Grandma Donna to the entire community.

Donna is survived by her sons, Dale (Rhonda) Hanson, Don Hanson, and Darin (Tracy) Hanson all of Wheaton; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Walter of Campbell, MN, Lois Perkins of Breckenridge, Mary Ann (Jerry) Layton of Doran, MN, and Linda (Dan) Rezac of Breckenridge; brother, Richard (Monica) Miller of Fergus Falls, MN; and sister-in-law, Teresa Miller of Bemidji, MN. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hanson in 1999; her parents, Howard and Minnie Miller; brother, Gary Miller; and father and mother-in-law, Viola and Harry Hanson.
