Lewandowski, age 92, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Browns Valley Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father Gregg Frankman officiating. Music will be provided by organist Norma Jung and the St. Anthony’s Choir.

Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Browns Valley. Military honors will be provided by the William Krensing American Legion Post 58 of Browns Valley. Honorary urn bearers will be Mike’s granddaughters, Kari Holman, Kourtney Lewandowski, Niki Rethke, and Jennifer Haanton.

Active urn bearers will be Mike’s grandsons, Erik, Justin, and Tyler Lewandowski. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael August Lewandowski was born March 14, 1926, to Mike and Rozalii (Miotke) Lewandowski, Sr., in Grenville, SD. He was baptized and confirmed in Grenville. He attended school in Sisseton graduating from Sisseton High School in 1944.

On November 8, 1950, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a truck driver. He was honorably discharged November 13, 1952. On January 5, 1954, Mike married Geraldine Kleindl at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley.

Mike worked as a farmhand for Bob Beumer until 1969. He and Geraldine then moved into Browns Valley where he worked at Tri-County Co-op, which is now the Cenex station. He was co-manager until retiring.

Mike was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and belonged to the William Krensing American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and especially loved spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Geri Lewandowski of Browns Valley; sons, Keith Lewandowski of Browns Valley, Kent Lewandowski of Wilmot, SD, and Jon Lewandowski of Wilmot; seven grandchildren, Kari (Jesse) Holman, Erik Lewandowski, Kourtney Lewandowski, Niki (Mark) Rethke, Jennifer Haanton, Justin Lewandowski, and Tyler Lewandowski; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Amanda Sykora and Evelyn Kleindl of Browns Valley.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and seven sisters.
