Carleton Weinkauf August 20, 1941 – July 18, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Carleton Willard Ray Weinkauf, of Benson, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2018, at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, officiated by Rev. Cheryl Rondeau Bassett.

Burial will be in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, New Effington, SD. Carleton was born in Sisseton, SD, on August 20, 1941, to Gustav and Minerva (Nelson) Weinkauf. He was raised in rural New Effington where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Carl graduated from New Effington High School in 1959. Carl married Sandra Kay Sargent on November 7, 1959, in New Effington, where their three children (Debra Kaye, Kevin Ray, and Susan Faye) were born. Carl farmed for two years before moving to Minneapolis, MN, and then on to Seattle, WA.

In Seattle he spent his career with the United States Postal Service, beginning as a letter carrier and retiring as Station Manager of the Ballard Post Office. Carl married Sandra Lee Lenz in 1974. They had one son, Joey Jason.

In 1983, he married Darlene Marie Meston. Carl had many interests such as gardening, fishing, rebuilding Honda motorcycles, working with computers (including setting up a delivery program for the postal service), as well as selling and transporting RV trailers, and watching baseball games on TV. He is survived by his children, Debra Weinkauf Madruga, Susan Weinkauf Ward (Mike), and Joey Weinkauf (Tracey); as well as his grandchildren, Bryan, Lisa, Adam, Haley, and London; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Galen (Lorna) and Burnell (Laurie).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Minerva; son, Kevin; and brother, Myron. Carl was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
