Dorothy Monroe Jenkins October 02, 1928 – January 12, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Funeral service for Dorothy Monroe Jenkins will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Roberts, First Christian Church, Frederick, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.

Dorothy June (Monroe) Jenkins, 90, of Lawton passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Lawton. She was born October 2, 1928 in Senath, Missouri to Lowell and Flossie (Ladyman) Monroe. Dorothy was the oldest daughter.

She graduated from Senath High School and went on to attend Arkansas State Teachers College in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She loved all the activities in college and often mentioned being a member of the Women’s Athletic Association. After college she taught elementary school and even served as principal in her first post since as teacher for the 4th-6th graders.

On October 8, 1949 she married her great love. Harvey Gean Jenkins and thus began her life of building a family wherever life moved them. Her primary role after her children were born was homemaker, and she always remained active in her children’s lives as Den Mother in Cub Scouts or Homeroom Mother or enthusiastically supporting all their sporting events and other special interests.

After her grandchildren and even great- grandchildren were born, Grandma Jenkins could be found among the spectators attending events in which they were involved. One of her great losses was the death of her youngest child, Julie Ann in 1982. With great faith she continued through life but with the tender loss always with her.

She is cherished by her daughter Jennifer Jenkins Weber of Tulsa and her son Jim Jenkins of Lawton, son-in-law Mark Weber and daughter-in-law Sharon Jenkins, grandchildren Ryan and his wife Hayley Jenkins of Elgin, Brent and his wife Adrian Jenkins and Melissa Jenkins of Lawton, John and his wife Ann Weber and Ben and Natalie Weber both of Tulsa, great- grandchildren, Jordyn and Crews Jenkins of Lawton, Avery and Owen Jenkins of Elgin, Brody and Matthew Weber of Tulsa and Gracyn, Jack and Harvey Weber of Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Vada Monroe Harris, her husband Harvey Jenkins and her daughter Julie Ann Jenkins. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
