Edoardo Tironi April 06, 1929 – March 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Edoardo Tironi, age 89, died peacefully on March 13, 2019, at home with his family in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He was born on April 6, 1929, in Monthois, France to Edoardo and Emma (Simioni) Tironi. Though born in France, he was raised in Fonzaso, Italy.

He came to the United States in 1946. A naturalized citizen, Edoardo served honorably as a member of Co A 14th United States Army Armored Cavalry from 1953 to 1955 in post World War II Germany, and the Reserves until 1961. He worked as a Master Carpenter for Philips Building Supply in Charlottesville, Virginia, and lived in Barboursville, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Corradina; his daughter, AnnaMaria T. Wood, and was preceded in death by her husband William Warner Wood. He is also survived by his daughter, Emma T. Cummings, her husband, Michael P. Cummings, Sr.; his grandson Michael Jr. and his wife McKenna Cummings; his niece Gloria Wood and her husband, George; his nephew, Michael Crawford and his wife, Lisa, and his nephew, Felix Crawford. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Livia, Bruna and her husband, Clarence Clements, Luigina, Giovannia, Enrichetta and his brother Guerino.

Ed loved spending time in his garden, fishing,chopping wood, travelling and camping across the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Skyline Drive with his family. He also enjoyed his Saturday evenings at Mass at the Church of the Incarnation. The family would like to thank all those whom spent time caring and visiting with Ed; his special friend and caregiver Tanya Jones who followed Ed from his home in Barboursville to Chesterfield to continue to help with his caregiving.

We also thank all the wonderful individuals from James River Home Health, Wendy, Yeon, Lana, Chantell, Chella, Sarah and Caitlyn. And special thanks to Mary, Toni, Angela, Crystal, Morris, Shanitta, Kehanna, James, Vanessa and Martha of James River Hospice for all the comfort not only to Ed but to his whole family. Special thanks also to Father John Kazibwe of the Church of the Epiphany in Chesterfield, VA and Dr. John Gehman, Debbie Williamson and Bryant of Crew, VA.

Mr. Tironi’s graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Holly Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
