Obituary for Edward Latrell Windham Services for Edward Latrelle Windham will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi. Rev. Shane Singleton and Rev.
Leon Carmical will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Laurel. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, November 20, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
There will also be visitation Wednesday morning prior to time of service. Edward Latrelle Windham, 72, of Laurel, Mississippi died Thursday, November 15, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wyatt Edward and Vertie Mae Bustin Windham; grandson Noah Windham Wells; brothers John Watson Windham and sister-in-law Florence Julia “Judy” Johnston Windham; Marvin Douglas Windham, and Thomas Edison Windham.
Surviving him are his wife, Linda Carol Ingram Windham; daughters, Jennifer Caroline Robinson and husband Barry; Rebecca Ellen Wells and husband, Jonathan; eleven grandchildren: Mark Edward Robinson, Emma Caroline Robinson, Matthew Ingram Wells, Annie Elizabeth Wells, Rebekah Claire Robinson, Peter Aidan Wells, Emily Caroline Wells, Timothy Wyatt Wells, Nathan William Wells, James Edward Wells, and Joseph Lowery Wells; and sisters-in-law Doris McCormick Windham and Faye Blakeney Windham. Pallbearers will be Mark Edward Robinson, Matthew Ingram Wells, Mark Windham, Marty Windham, John Windham, Joey Windham, Marvin Windham, and Tony Windham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Robinson, Jonathan Wells and John Ingram.
Latrelle was born in Louin, Mississippi on July 23, 1946. His parents were Wyatt Edward Windham and Vertie Mae Bustin Windham. He graduated from Bay Springs High School.
While attending Jones County Junior College, he played football and was on the track and field team for the Bobcats. He attended Delta State university and graduated from William Carey College. As a junior in high school, Latrelle accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and shortly afterwards dedicated his life to Christian ministry.
He faithfully served as State Youth Director for the Baptist Missionary Association of Mississippi for twenty-five years. As State Youth Director, he organized events, camps, and conferences for young people from elementary to college age throughout Mississippi. He invested in the lives of young people through Christian education and discipling them in Christian service.
Latrelle served on staff at Parkview Baptist Church, Lebanon Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Louin in education, youth and music minister capacities in his early years of ministry and on the staff of Southeastern Baptist College. Following college, he was on the faculty of Bay Springs High School as a classroom teacher and assistant coach.
