Edward “Scott” Ferrill, 49, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:18 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Scott was born on July 19, 1969, in Murphysboro, to Elmer “Butch” and Alice (Sill) Ferrill. He served in the U.S. Army during both Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He has been working at the Illinois Department of Transportation in highway maintenance for the past twenty years. Mr. Ferrill was a member of the DeSoto Masonic Lodge # 119, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post # 7190, and the Teamster’s Local # 50. Scott married Anna Schultz on October 3, 1992, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons Joshua Ferrill and Caleb Ferrill, both of Murphysboro; his parents of Carbondale; one sister Debbie Clerk of Carbondale and her children Emily Kaufmann and Nick Clerk; eight brothers in law Floyd, Thomas, Steven, Alan, Eric, Mark, Ben, and Jonathan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Pettett Funeral Home with burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory with military services. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
