Obituary for Elizabeth “BAnn” Bowers (Graeff) Elizabeth “BAnn” Bowers, 86, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Manor Court in Carbondale. Elizabeth was born on March 2, 1932, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Clyde Graeff and Elizabeth (Borgsmiller) Graeff. She was a housewife.

She was very active in the Murphysboro Senior Citizens and had delivered Meals on Wheels for a long period of time. She would sell knitted scarves and hats at various craft fairs, and they are scattered all over Southern Illinois, along with Barbie clothing, that she also knitted. Mrs. Bowers was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Andrew Altar Society, as well as St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

BAnn married Michael Bowers on February 6, 1959, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1999. She is survived by two daughters Denise Miller and her husband Jack Miller of Carbondale, and Lauralee Ryan of Murphysboro; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren Kyle and Libby Griffith and their son Collin Griffith of Decatur, GA, Ryan Griffith and his daughter Analise Griffith of Carterville, Alixandre and Jacob Weber and their son Hunter Weber of Murphysboro, Austin Beckman of Murphysboro and Bo Wooldridge of Columbia, SC, Allison Miller and Sean Beaty of Alexandria, VA, and Jack Miller, Jr and Jennifer Miller and their son Riley of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister in law Virginia Bowers of Murphysboro. She was preceded in death by two sisters in infancy Mary Ellen Graeff and Rita Kay Graeff, and her parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. The family would prefer in lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to the Murphysboro Senior Citizens.
