Obituary for Eileen Graves Services for Eileen Graves, 72, of Chariton will be Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Legacy Lodge Hospice.

Eileen was born January 14, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa the only child of Richard and Melzine (Flesher) Beane. They moved to Chariton her sophomore year and she graduated on May 26, 1964. On May 27th she was married to Chuck Graves II.

They were blessed with two children: Chuck III and Cheryl. She worked side by side with Chuck in the family business of Graves Auto. Eileen very much enjoyed this, but jokingly said it was necessary to keep Chuck in-line.

She also enjoyed crafts, camping, and mushroom hunting. Her whole world was her family. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was such an amazing woman. If you came to her house and a meal was served, you had better eat or she would fix you a plate! Or grab you by the ear and take you to the food!

She could rattle a recipe off the top of her head, would give you the shirt off your back, and lend you an ear, or a shoulder if you needed it. She fed you if you were hungry, clothed you if you were cold, and gave you a bed if you were tired. Eileen passed away on May 3, 2018.

She had battled cancer for a year and had a stroke eight years ago. All this time Chuck dedicated his life to taking care of her. She always stayed upbeat and positive and cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Chuck Graves II; children: Chuck (Jenni) Graves III, and Cheryl (Jeff) Downard; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; step-sister, Judy Church; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Melzine and Richard; and her special step father, Don Roberts.
