Obituary for Jacob “Jake” Hansaker Funeral services for Jake Hansaker, 87, will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 632 in Melcher-Dallas.

Jacob Dean Hansaker was born April 5, 1931 at home in Dallas, Iowa. He grew up in Melcher-Dallas meeting the love of his life at the skating rink, Wilma Polich. They were married in 1953.

Jake served in the United States Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He worked at Firestone in Des Moines retiring in 1992. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, the older the better, fishing and hunting, and would often drive around on Wilma’s motorcycle visiting his siblings and friends on nice summer days.

Although Jake was reserved and quiet he had a friendly smile and way that made everyone feel loved welcome. Jake passed away May 9, 2018 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Hansaker.

Jake will be greatly missed by his wife, Wilma; children: Mike, Lynn, and Stephen; grandchildren: Eric Colwill, Josh Colwill, Megan Hansaker, and Mark Hansaker; siblings: Merilyn Farrell, Pete (Mona) Hansaker, Orbie (Jack) Becker, and LeRoy (Carolyn) Hansaker; sisters-in-law, Doris Hansaker and Arlene Wilson; brother-in-law, Bill Polich; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
