Emma Jo Jenkins Carpenter January 03, 1930 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 11:00 AM for Mrs. Emma Jo Jenkins Carpenter. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on Friday, January 3, 1930, and passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, D. Breard Carpenter, her parents, Andrew Jenkins and Lois Nelson Jenkens, and her sister Eloise Jenkins Plunkett.

Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, the United Methodist Women, The Altar Guild, and the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century. She and her late husband, D. Breard Carpenter, were charter members of Pine Ridge Country Club where they enjoyed golf and friendships for many years. They operated several retail department stores in Central Louisiana for over 50 years.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by one sister, Nelda Jenkins Watson of Baton Rouge; two nieces, Reggie Ann Walker-Wyatt of Shreveport and Jo Ellen Plunkett Kasparek of New Orleans; two nephews, Ret. Lt. Col.

Thomas B. Plunkett, II and Ret. Lt. Col.

Chuck Watson of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews, Marva Jo Wyatt, Thomas Andrew Wyatt, Lydia Anne Wyatt; also Lauren, Kaitland, Ted and Andrew Kasparek, and Thomas Plunkett, IV, and Kristina and Carrie Grace Plunkett; one great-great niece, Elizabeth Anne Wyatt, Bossier City. Funeral services will be held at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, in Winnfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20 , 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
