Obituary for Evelyn Ingram Evelyn Marie Ingram received her wings on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. She was born on July 9, 1951 to the late Mason Ingram Sr. and Alice Adams. She was baptized at an early age at Mt.
Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. George Smith. She was educated in the New Orleans Public School System.
She was employed at Southern Baptist Hospital as a dietary server for over 25 year and later as a phlebotomist at several medical facilities. She was a member of Mt. Rock Baptist Church.
After Katrina, she became a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Roosevelt Malone, Sr She was a member of the choir until the time of her illness.
She enjoyed singing everywhere she went. Her favorite hymn was Amazing Grace Shall Always Be My Song of Praise. Evelyn enjoyed living in New Orleans and Mardi Gras was her favorite holiday.
She enjoyed catching beads and cups even if it meant scuffling on the ground. (She was going to get her beads while fussing at the same time). She loved watching wrestling on TV and going to live wrestling matches at the auditorium.
Evelyn’s signature mark was blowing her whistle. She blew her whistle at every event she attended and of course she couldn’t resist blowing it directly in your ear. She leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Joseph Aaron (Leola) Hamlin and Bennalyn Cantrelle Ingram; six grandchildren, Rontrell Manning, Asya, Chance and Erin Moten, Mijanae and Malaysia Ingram; eight siblings, Doris (Felton) Dyer, Eula Henry, Mason Jr., Barbara, Richard Sr. (Laura), Tracy, Jeffery (Cynthia), and Chris Ingram; special aunt, Deloris Adams; special uncle, Joseph Ingram and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mason Ingram, Sr. and Alice Adams and one niece Valerie Dyer. Relatives and friends of the family, pastor, officers and members of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Mt.
Pilgrim Baptist Church, 2717 Joliet Street on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment: St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
