Funeral services for Frank “Son” Phillips, 95, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, March 15, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Trey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Hill (Upper Chireno) Cemetery in Chireno, Texas.

He was born October 10, 1923 in Chireno, Texas, the son of the late Josh Phillips and Mary (Williams) Phillips, and died Monday, March 11, 2019 in Lufkin. Mr. Phillips loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Phillips is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Merline and Billy Lott of Lufkin; son, Jonny Lowrence Phillips of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Alice Phillips of Bangs, TX; daughter, Peggy Cheatwood of Jasper, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Larry Veal of Jasper, TX; daughter and friend, Sherry Phillips and Jerry Hearn of Dallas, TX; 3 along with 3 step-children; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Nora Dean Holloway of Chireno, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Tom Collins of Huntington; sister, Willean Conte of New York; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Doyle Burnett of Huntington; and sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Kenneth Simms of Lufkin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Fitzgerald; wife, Willie Mae Fitzgerald; daughter, Linda Nobles; son-in-law, Jimmy Nobles; 5 brothers; 5 sisters; grandsons, Michael Veal and Mark Berry; along with 4 step-children. Pallbearers will be Doug Cheatwood, James Cheatwood, Ben Lee, Johnathan Lee, Bryan Cheatwood, and Cooper Cheatwood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lott and Douglas Cheatwood. Special memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Day Center, 305 Shands Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
