Obituary for Franklin Rene (Skeeter) Risher On Sunday, November 25, 2018, Franklin Rene (Skeeter) Risher got to go home to be with God. Born November 3, 1963, in Heidelberg, MS where he resided all 55 years. He was the light of his family’s hearts.
Skeeter never met a stranger. He was born and diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, but never let that hold him back from living a full, happy life. If he ever met you, he would remember you again if he saw you.
He was one of the most dedicated members that Corinth Baptist Church had and up until he got sick was there every time there was something going on at the church. He also held some honorary positions in the church such as assistant training union director, assistant song director, and of course best church greeter! He performed solos in church and sang in the choir.
He loved gospel music and had quite the collection of tapes and CDs of most every group. Skeeter was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Risher; mother, Myrtle Christine Risher; and younger brother, Thomas Richard Risher. He is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra Gavin (Richard), Deborah Cross (Kenneth), and Mitzi Stephenson (Terry), and one brother, Richard Risher, all of Heidelberg; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends and a special friend, Joe Parker.
Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel on Tuesday, November 27th from 5 until 8 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28th at 10:30 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with interment to follow at Corinth Cemetery. Rev. Jamie Matthews and Rev.
Steve Pouncey will officiate. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Mason Gray, Eli Gray, Hunter Herrington, Lance Risher, Jarrett Windham, Brayden Stephenson, and Cory Stephenson. Skeeter was “Special” on this earth, but he is now “Perfect” in Heaven!
