Obituary for Evelyn Clark Reynolds Evelyn Clark Reynolds was born October 19, 1931, and on November 21, 2018, she went to her Heavenly home. Visitation will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Leon Carmical officiating. The burial will be at Union Line Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leighton Reynolds; her sister Madeline Willingham; her mother, Ruby K. Beech; and her father, Lee J. Clark. She is survived by her son, Leigh Reynolds and her grand-daughter, Maleah Reynolds, both of Nashville, TN. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Calhoun.

For 15 years she served as Director of The Silver Haired Friends, a senior adult group witnessing for the Lord throughout five southern states. She also started and was the planner for The Widow’s Friendship Circle. She always loved the Lord and her church families and served in various churches as Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk, Church Librarian, Pianist, Choir Director, and Director of Youth Activities.

She was a member and Past Matron of Soso Chapter #256, Order Of The Eastern Star, Past District Deputy Grand Matron, and Past Grand Soloist. She was a member and past President of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #11, YWCO, Past President of PTA, and former Cub Scout Den Mother. She participated in the Heart Fund, Cancer Drive, and Mental Health Programs.

In 1949, she graduated from Soso High School as Valedictorian then attended Jones County Junior College and later, Meridian Community College. After 35 years of dedicated service to the Jones County Veterans and their dependents, Mrs. Reynolds retired as the Veterans Service Officer in October 1988. She always felt so honored and blessed to serve those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Her career began as secretary April 1, 1953, advancing to Assistant Service Officer. On April 1, 1976, the Jones County Board Of Supervisors appointed her Veterans Service Officer. She received numerous awards for her co-operation, kindness, dedication, and outstanding work, including: National Citation for Meritorious Service, National Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission, The American Legion; Certificates of Appreciation from Gulf Coast Vietnam Veterans Association, VA Regional Office of Jackson, and Jones County Board of Supervisors.

In recognition of past achievements and outstanding service to community, state, and nation, 1979-1980, she was selected to appear in Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans; Personalities of the South; and The World Who’s Who of Women. She will be missed by her family, friends, and so many that knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Dale Clark, Sonny Coats, Marvin Holifield, Antonio Jackson, Roger Jefcoat, Bobby Knotts, Gary Rogers, and Alan Tigert.
