Obituary for Lewis Richard Houston Lewis Richard Houston, 78 years old of Laurel, MS passed away in his home on 11/17/2018. A memorial service will be held at Franklin United Methodist Church Tuesday November 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Lewis was born 12/5/1939 in Laurel, MS to Glen and Bethel Houston. He was the third of 6 children.

He graduated from Shady Grove High School in 1959 and served his country for four years in the United States Navy. Lewis was an electrician for over 45 years. He had a sharp sense of humor and a quick wit.

He lived life by his own code and you always knew where you stood with him. Lewis lived in central Iowa for over 30 years where he raised his three sons and passed along his strong work ethic and southern manners. Upon his retirement he returned to Jones County MS which he always referred to as “God’s Country”.

He leaves behind his sons Sam Houston (Janelle) of Byron, MN, Johnny Houston (Shari) of Polk City, Iowa, and Jimmy Houston (Shelly) of Santee, CA along with his stepchildren, Sharma Pitt of Eldora, IA, Traci Clayton of Boone, IA, and Mike Saylor of Otsego, MN. His siblings Howard (Barbara) Houston, GayBeth Houston Kelley of Laurel MS and Gene (DeeDee) Houston of Humboldt, TN. Sister in-law Mary Houston of Hurley, MS.

Grandchildren Rebbeca, Stephanie, Anna, Christopher, Hannah, Sydney, Sean, Alyssa, Amber, Katie, Shelbi, Jake, Lauren, Emma. and his beloved dog Scooter. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen and Chet (Ramona)and wife Cyndee.
