The family will greet friends and visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Bishop Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Pastor Sharla Stephenson.

Military honors will be provided by the Robert B. Thomas, VFW Post #1098. Fritz was born to Fritz William and Theresa (Winkleman) Lehrling in Bluff, Oklahoma. He attended Deer Creek School and joined the US Army Air Force.

Fritz was a Staff Sergeant and served as a tail gunner on a B17 Bomber during World War II. Fritz flew in 10 combat missions over enemy occupied territory of Italy and Austria. He married Rose Mary Barker on October 7, 1948 in Tonkawa.

They lived in Blackwell for several years until moving to McAlester in 1962 where they owned and operated the Dairy Queen from 1962 until 1980. Fritz enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and working in his yard. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his plane.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Fritz W. and Theresa Lehrling, his wife: Rose Mary Lehrling in 2002, son: Gregory Lee Lehrling in 2006, and sister: Levina Lehrling. Fritz is survived by his daughter: Sheila Barkley and husband, John Alan of Stuart; daughter-in-law: LeAnne Lehrling of McAlester; grandchildren: Tony Lehrling and wife, April of Durant, Sherri St. John and husband, Gary of Prosper, Texas, Crissey Barton of Stuart, Brandi Rusk and husband, Tony of Mustang, Shannon Barkley and wife, Cindy of McAlester, Stephanie Barkley of Achille. Also great-grandchildren: Riley Lehrling, Kyrick Lehrling, Brayden Barton, Ashton Barton, Braxton Barton, Ryker Barton, Kendall Belle St. John, Hudson St. John, Ryan Rusk, Owen Rusk, Rachel Morrison, Jessica Martin, Joseph Barlow, Payton Boney, Remington Boney, Emma Rozelle, and Paul Rozelle; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sisters in-law: Ina Marshall and Darlene Gore, both of Ponca City; and numerous other family members and friends.
