Obituary for Garner Bandy Garner Bandy, age 70 of the Dix Creek Community of Bandy, VA died Monday, January 7, 2019 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN. He was born December 13, 1948 at Richlands, VA and was a son of the late William and Ella Jones Bandy. Garner was a retired coal miner, having worked for Consolidated Coal for many years.

Mr. Bandy was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, pitching horseshoes, and playing football. He was the first person to score a touchdown on the Tazewell Little League Football Field and was the first to pitch a shutout at the Little League Baseball Field.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Veteran’s Support Group in Princeton, WV. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a friend, whom he considered his brother, Eddie McReynolds.

Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Diana Bandy; his daughter, who will forever be his little girl, Brandi Bandy Brewster and husband, James of Dix Creek, VA; one sister, Lorene Waddle and husband, Ted of Dix Creek, VA; two brothers, Garland Bandy and wife, Rita of Dix Creek, VA and Garnet Bandy and wife, Thelma of North Tazewell, VA; two grandsons, Triston Bandy Brewster and Bentley Brewster; special nephew, Mark Bandy and wife, Sandy; special niece, Samantha Guerrero and husband, Wilson; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. In keeping with Mr. Bandy’s wishes, his earthly body will be cremated and there will be no services.
