Obituary of Garnett DeMonstoy Garnett I. DeMonstoy, age 87, of Painted Post, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital. She was born on August 4, 1930 in Hornby, the daughter of William G. and Rebecca M. (DuVall) Taber. Garnett was a member of the Bible Speak Church of Millport where she accepted Christ as her Savior.

She was employed at and retired from Sit N Bull in Painted Post and she was a published author. Garnett was a wonderful poet and she wrote them for many family events such as birthdays, holidays, and most other occasions. She made the best cinnamon buns in the world and she loved to play euchre.

In her 87 years, Garnett touched so many lives, was interested in all she met, anyone could come to her with a problem and she was willing to listen, even giving her opinion whether or not it was wanted. She loved her family unconditionally, mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, and friend, you will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Gail (James) Harris of Painted Post, son, Jeffery (Teressa Smith) DeMonstoy of Painted Post, sisters, Janet Bates of Campbell, Beatrice (Raymond) Henaghen of Binghamton, and Sandra Whittaker of Campbell, grandsons, Anthony (Kimberly) Harris of Painted Post and Ian Jones of Pittsburg, great granddaughters, Tabatha (Kevin) Tombs of Ft.

Bragg, NC and Kennedi Harris of Painted Post, great great granddaughter, Oaklyn “Jake” Tombs, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Garnett was predeceased by her parents, William and Rebecca Taber and her brother, Gerald Hyslip. It was Garnett’s wish that there be no calling hours.

A celebration of life gathering will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Campbell American Legion, 8458 County Route 333, Campbell, NY 14821. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
