Garry R. Tygert, age 56, of Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born on September 21, 1962 in Schenectady, a son of the late Clifford and Vivian Tygert. Garry grew up in Amsterdam and a Class of 1980 graduate of Amsterdam High School.

He was employed as a Porter at the Pattersonville Rest Area for over 26 years. He enjoyed watching Chicago Bears Football, New York Yankees Baseball and Wrestling. Garry tried attending one Yankee game at the stadium every season.

Garry is survived by his companion Diane Cook; brothers and sisters David Tygert, John Tygert, Kenneth Keller, Carlton Tygert, Elizabeth Close and Suzanne Womack; two stepdaughters Rebecca Wieszchowski and Nancy McDonald and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to Garry’s parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Sheryl Schotts Tygert. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. this evening, Friday, February 8, 2019, at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.

Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service today, Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
