Orville E. “Butch” Van Hoesen, Sr., age 77, of Perth, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam surrounded by his wife and his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1941 in Gloversville, a son of the late Orville A. Van Hoesen and Edith M. Alkinburgh Van Hoesen. Butch was a Class of 1960 graduate of Gloversville High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963.

He was employed for many years as an Inspector for General Electric in Schenectady until his retirement. In his retirement years, Butch worked part-time as a Bus Driver for Brown’s Transportation in Amsterdam. He is survived by his wife Shirley Weiderman Van Hoesen who he married on November 10, 1973, one son Orville E. “Duke” Van Hoesen, Jr. (Chrissy) of Hudson Falls; two brothers James L. Van Hoesen, Sr. (Chris) of Tribes Hill and Kenneth A. Van Hoesen, Sr of Johnstown; three grandchildren Tyler Van Hoesen, Charlene Van Hoesen and Lucas Van Hoesen, ex-daughter-in-law Amy Cromp and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
