Gary’s Obituary GARY S. POST age71 of Groton passed away on Saturday evening, January 26, 2019 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in New London on May 2, 1947 the son of Walter S. Post, Jr and Lucille Burge Post. Gary graduated from Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School in the class of 1965 and served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War.

He then worked for 40 years as a welder at Electric Boat Company in Groton. His wife Elaine Lussier Post passed away on March 24, 2005. Gary was a very caring person, an avid N.Y. Yankee and Dallas Cowboys fan, and he enjoyed bowling and being a member of the Groton Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his step children, Allen Church of Mystic, Dawn Church of Windsor and D’Ann Rice and husband Shane of Texas, his three brothers, Wally Post of Groton, Albert G. and wife Penny Post of Ledyard and Franklin C. Post of Westerly, RI, his grandchildren, Joshua Rice, Gracie, Brittany and Nicole Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 o’clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the Special Olympics of Mystic, 12 Decatur Trail, Gales Ferry, CT 06335.
