Obituary for Geneva Edna Owens Geneva Edna Owens, 88, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 in Brady, Texas. Geneva’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady.
Geneva was born on July 6, 1930 in Brady, Texas to Buell Floyd “B.F.” Nowlin and Willie “Williams” Nowlin. She was a lifelong resident of McCulloch County. She graduated from Rochelle High School in 1948.
She married the love of her life, Leslie “O.V.” Owens, on November 27, 1948 in Brownwood, Texas. They had two children together, Michael Owens and Melinda Ramirez. Geneva was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Voca, Texas where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Geneva trained as a nurse and worked at the Brady Hospital. Later on, she worked at Perry’s fabric department and the Walmart fabric department. She enjoyed helping run the family farm.
She loved to cook and bake. Geneva enjoyed reading and sewing. She loved gardening and spending time outdoors.
Geneva especially savored the time she spent with family and her precious grandchildren. Geneva is survived by her son, Michael Owens of Voca, Texas, daughter, Melinda Ramirez and husband, (Dennis Jr.) of Cotulla, Texas, six grandchildren, John Owens, Heather Truelove, Kayme Whitehurst, (Billy) George Diggans II, Trey and Miranda Ramirez, nine great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Owens, Christian Truelove, Chelsea, Emily, and Cinco Whitehurst, Hayden Ayala, Ryan Sauceda, and Cuatro Ramirez, and one great-great grandchild, Avery Landeros, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Buell Floyd “B.F.” and Willie Nowlin, her beloved husband, Leslie “O.V.” Owens, and one sister, Joyce Blackwell.
