William married Patsy on September 30, 1978 in Rockwall and they have been married for 40 years.

William and Patsy lived in Brady for 6 years and was a member of Church of Christ. William enjoyed playing poker and collecting coins and a life long tennis player. Survivors include, his wife Patsy Mickus of Rockwall, 2 sons; Marc McLeskey and wife Lissa Duncanville, Michael McLeskey and wife Inger of Copenhagen, Denmark, 5 daughters; Lynda Edwards of Dallas, DiAnn Bennett and husband Irby of Carrollton, Sandra Krauland and husband Randy of Dallas, Debbie Wragg and husband Richard of Rockwall, Marilyn Smith and husband Greg of Rockwall, 2 brothers; Dale Mickus and wife Judy of Helena, Montana, Butch Mickus and wife Judy of Olympia, Montana, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Swea Mickus and brother Ronald Mickus.
