Gennett’s Obituary Mrs. Gennett MacCray Wingate, 93 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 25, 2019 at Guilford Health Care Center in Greensboro, NC. Mrs. Wingate was born in Spartanburg S.C. On December 25, 1925 to the home of the late Walter MacCray and Lula Miller MacCray. Mrs. Wingate lived in Winston-Salem NC her entire adult life and was married to the late Robert H. Wingate.

She was a long time member of St. John CME church where she served on the Usher Board, Missionary Society and Pastor Aid Board. She cared for children in her home helping to raise more than 10 children. Mrs. Wingate will be missed but comfort will found in God’s loving mercy.

Mrs. Wingate was preceded in death by three daughters: Brenda J. Wingate, Mary Lee Wingate Thompson and Jacqueline Diane Wingate Boyce. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Dorothy L. Wingate (aka Ms. Dot); granddaughter Gennette D. Thompson; three grandsons: James B. McKeever III, Charles E. Wingate (Sharon) and Steven R. Thompson Jr.; great grandson Christopher Wingate and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Hooper Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1:30 pm until 2:00 pm and service immediately following.
