Glenda’s Obituary Sloansville (Schoharie County): Glenda G. Malette 81, of Bray Road Sloansville, NY passed away peacefully on Friday January 18th at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Glenda was born May 16, 1937 in Central Bridge, NY a daughter of Reginald and Grace (Schaufelberg) Grantier and graduated from Schoharie High School, class of 1955. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the former Beacon Feed Mill in Central Bridge along with other companies in the surrounding area.

Glenda also worked as a home health care provider and with Schoharie County Office of the Aging. She was also active as a Red Cross volunteer and at one time, the United Methodist Church in Gardner, MA. She enjoyed sewing and knitting but her greatest joy was raising a family and being a part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.

She married Ellery Malette on September 15, 1956. He predeceased her on March 31, 1976. Survivors include her daughter; Regina (John) Ryan of Ballston Lake, her son; Jeff Malette of Esperance, her 5 grandchildren; Robert Tator, Jenna Malette, Jackie (Alex) Giordano, Meghan Malette and Courtney Malette, her 10 great-grandchildren; Grace and Lucy Tator, Natalie and Madelyn Palmer, Lucious King, Cayden and Callie Cernauskas, Annalise and Levi Giordano and Millie Gigandet, her siblings; Elizabeth “Betsy” Grantier of Berne, Nancy (late Vic) Bartholomew of Okeechobee, FL and Susan (Jon) James of Central Bridge, her sister-in-law; Jeanne Grantier of Cobleskill along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Glenda was predeceased by a great-grandson Alexander Giordano and her brother Frederick Grantier. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 24th at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108 Chapel Street Cobleskill followed by a fellowship at Grapevine Farms in Cobleskill. Burial will be at a later date in the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
