Obituary for Gus Salpas Gus Salpas, 74, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Service and celebration of Gus’ life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11th, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Gus was born April 17, 1944 in Grand Island, the son of James and Mollie (Michael) Salpas. One of thirteen children, he grew up in Grand Island and made his life there.

He was an over the road truck driver employed by Brown Transfer Company, retiring in 2004. Gus enjoyed woodworking and puttering in his yard. His favorite place to hang out was Ace Hardware.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kevin (Kelly) Salpas, Kim Salpas and Gary Salpas, all of Grand Island; siblings, Mary Shriner of Grand Island, Marge Flansburg of Lincoln, Donna Thomas of Grand Island, Dorothy Morton of Union, Chris Salpas of Shelton, Vicki Huffman of Grand Island, George Salpas of Grand Island, Betty Lucas of Doniphan and Ida Hehr of Grand Island. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Jaden, Alissa and Alexander; three great-grandchildren, Kaden, Adam and Aaliyah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gus was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Nick Salpas; sisters, Josephine Skinner and Frannie Skinner; and his four-legged friend, Rocky.
