Obituary for Melvin LaRue Miner Melvin LaRue Miner, 91, of Grand Island formerly of McCook, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. To honor Melvin’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services at this time. His ashes will be buried in the Wilsonville Cemetery at a later date.

Melvin was born April 15, 1927 in Furnace County, Nebraska, the son of Cecil and Mary (Stitzel) Miner. He attended school in Red Willow County. On September 13, 1945, Melvin entered the United States Army.

He was honorably discharged in 1946. Melvin and Beulah Brown were united in marriage on November 4, 1955 in Beaver City. Melvin farmed most of his life, both on his own farm and for others.

He and Beulah moved to Grand Island in 1994. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Grand Island. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Beulah; son, Melvin “Mel” Miner of Grand Island; brother, Ervin (Bonnie) Miner of Speedway, Indiana; sister, Jean Hoelscher of Indianola, NE; three grandchildren, Katie Holmes, Max Miner and Kami Kelly and a great-grandson, Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Lou Kelly; brothers, Ivan, Wayne, Paul and two infant brothers; and two infant sisters. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Melvin LaRue Miner please visit our Sympathy Store.
