Obituary for Roy LaVern Skinner Roy L. Skinner, 76, of Central City passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Visitation will be from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Pastor Doug Olson will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy. Burial will take place in the Grand Island City Cemetery at a later date.

Roy LaVern Skinner was born August 22, 1941 in Ainsworth, son of Thomas and Esther (Robinson) Skinner. Roy was raised and attended school in Fremont and Central City. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Navy following graduation and served from 1961 to 1964.

He was united in Patricia Ann Joseph on June 4, 1965, this union was blessed with three children. On November 13, 1993 he married Sherry Ann Snyder. From 1970 until his retirement in 1997, Roy was employed by the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.

He then worked at Valley County Hospial in Ord from 1997 to 2003. Roy’s hobbies included fishing, camping, fishing, fishing and fishing. When he wasn’t fishing Roy enjoyed tinkering around with small engines and working in the garage and yard.

Most of all he loved the Lord with all his heart and spent his days reading and studying the Lord’s Word. He leaves behind his two daughters, Cherie (Tom) Flinn of Central City, and Julie (Jurgen) Milz of Grand Island; two step children, Cody (Susan) Buettgenbach of Glen Rock, WY and Stacy (Rick) Koch of Lincoln; sister, Robbin (Monte) Bullington of Mullen; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sherry; son, Roy W. Skinner; two brothers and three sisters.
