Obituary for Sue R. Martens Sue (Susan) R. Martens, 58, of Grand Island, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Omaha, NE. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 2 p.m., at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

A visitation will be on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will follow the service. Sue was born on August 28, 1959 to Elvin and Caroljean (Hunt) Palu in Grand Island, NE. She was raised and received her education in Grand Island, a 1977 graduate of Central Catholic.

Sue was united in marriage to Gaylord Martens on May 2, 1998. Sue dedicated her life to helping others, from her 30-plus year career as a Registered Nurse, mostly at St. Francis, to being the foster parent to over 20 children, and finally to her last act of service by being an organ donor. Sue was proud of her Catholic faith and was an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines.

She also loved lighthouses and was a Husker fan. Since 2013, Sue and her husband have visited 28 states in four and a half years, while she worked as a traveling nurse. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband; children, Betsy (Brandon) Dack, Kristy (Billy) Wolfe, and Shane (Dulce Nunez) Martens; her fur babies, Richie and “Tripod” Bristol; her brothers, Tom Palu, David (Betty) Palu, and Michael (Valerie) Palu; sister, Amy (Juan) Palu Pacheco-Bloch; and nine grandchildren.
