Henderson James Beavers March 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Henderson James Beavers, 83, of Staunton and formerly of Charlottesville, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was born on March 23, 1935 to the late Bill and Maymie Dunford Beavers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Nora L. Beavers, his second wife Gwen Beavers, and his siblings: William Beavers, Dolly “Demp” Dameron, and Anna Horne.

Mr. Beavers was a lifelong Christian and longtime member of First Christian Church. He was a member of the Lions Club and also a proud member of the National Federation of the Blind, having attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for Mr. Beavers over the years, in particular his sister Betty, who has spent countless hours in devoted care over the last six years.

He is survived by his daughter, Dianna Sundance-Fix and her husband Jeff, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six nieces and nephews, and his sister Betty Carol Smith and her husband Benny. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at First Christian Church, Keswick. The family will receive friends at Hill and Wood Funeral Home Charlottesville on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Beavers requested that you consider a donation to the National Federation of the Blind at 200 East Wells Street at Jernigan Place, Baltimore, MD 21230.
