, he was the son of Lillard Lawson, Sr., “Joe,” and Geneva McDaniel Coates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Crawford Lawson; grandparents, Moses and Leona Lawson and Richard and Virgie Shifflett McDaniel; and mother-in-law Catherine Rogers. Leo was a logger.

He loved to hunt and to spend time with people. Leo is survived by his wife, Kathy Rogers Lawson; son, Erick “Monkey” Lawson; two step-sons, Paul Yonts and James Yonts of Spotsylvania, Va. ; three step-grandsons, Cody, Hunter and Bryson Yonts of Spotsylvania; two aunts, Lorrine Hickman of Orange, Va.

, and Mary Lawson of Greene County, Va. ; brother-in-law and best friend Glen Morris of Kent Store, Va. ; and numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home – Greene Chapel, 15705 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia. Interment will follow at Mitchell Davis Cemetery on Route 810 in Dyke, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home – Greene Chapel.
