OBITUARY Hester Katherine Duncan December 15, 1915 – January 6, 2019 Former Connersville resident, H. Katherine “Kate” Duncan, 103, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, died Sunday morning, January 6, 2019, at White Oak Manor there. Kate was a native of Marengo, born December 15, 1915 to Arthur and Olive Stevenson Harris. She was a graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville.

On September 14, 1940, she was married in Evansville to Thomas W. Duncan. They moved to Connersville in 1963 when he joined the former Design and Manufacturing Company as Vice President of Engineering. Kate was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and elder.

She had served as President of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Connersville and liked to write poetry. Kate and her husband, who was a licensed pilot, visited many locations in the United States and Canada in their Piper Cherokee 6 airplane. Kate is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Kitty and Todd Tyrie of York, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, who died May 22, 1999; and her siblings: Bud and Bob Harris, Helen Zell. Public graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. EST Friday at Grantsburg Cemetery in Crawford County near Marengo. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the First Presbyterian Church in Connersville.
