James “June” Lakewood Phifer, Jr., 72, of Cedar Dr., NW, Concord, NC passed away February 11, at his residence. He was born May 27, 1946 in Cabarrus County to the late Rev. James Lakewood Phifer, Sr. and the late Afletta Stinson Phifer.

James was a 1964 graduate of Logan High School. He was employed by the Cabarrus County School System. James was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Concord.

He was also a member of the following organizations, Logan Lunch Pals, Logan Shankletown School Associates, Cabarrus County NAACP and First Impression Team. Services will be held Monday, February 18, at First Missionary Baptist Church 59 Chestnut St. SW, Concord, NC. Visitation will be at 11:00 – 12:00 PM with funeral services following at 12:00 PM.

Burial will be Friday, February 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. Those left to cherish fond memories include his daughter Deborah C. Caldwell (Robert) of Chester, VA; two grandchildren Darrius Parks and Donovan Parks both of Concord; one sister, Mae C. Black (Henry) of Kannapolis; one brother, Eugene Daniels of Concord; one aunt, Louise Robinson of Charlotte, NC; one nephew, Myron Black of Winston Salem, NC; special cousins, Nickey Dupree of Hope Mills, NC, Charles Dupree of Charlotte, NC, Cynthia Mc Elrath of Kannapolis, Margaret Jones of Charlotte, NC, Greg Parks (Catherine) of Concord; love of his life, Alecia Shirley Phifer of Concord; god-children, John, Kathy Goodman and Nickie Johnson and a host of cousins and friends.
