James L. Farrington, 88, formerly of Iron Mountain and Sagola, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Evergreen Apartments in Kingsford. Jim was born November 2, 1930, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Paul and Mary (Schupp) Farrington. He was raised in Kingsford and was a graduate of Kingsford High School.
Jim married the love of his life, Lisa (DeFiore) on September 3, 1955. They raised their family of five children in Iron Mountain, and loved to spend time at their cottage in Sagola, where they had countless wonderful memories with their children, grandchildren and friends. They also had many special friends at their winter home in Melbourne, Florida.
Jim was proud to have served his country in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, The Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Dickinson County Board. Jim worked as an electrician for the IBEW and was also a real estate agent. He was a gentle, beautiful soul who always had a kind word for anyone he met.
His greatest joy was to be able to spend time with his family. Jim loved to laugh, dance and live life to its fullest. Jim was a faithful servant to the Lord belonging to St. Rose and St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic churches and was an inspiration to everyone who met him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa; two sons, Michael (Linda) Farrington of Daytona Beach, Florida and Jim Farrington of Randolph, Mass. ; three daughters, Denise (Greg) Christensen of Iron Mountain, Becky (Bill) Goodman of Haymarket, Virginia, and Mary (Chris) Ninomiya of Iron Mountain; six grandchildren, Brandon (Mikki) Hall, Lia Hall, Jessica Goodman, Katherine Goodman, Sara Koller, Colleen Koller; one great-grandson, Jimmy Mullins and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Brackett; brother-in-law, Gerald Bracket; brother-in-law Michael DeFiore; sister-in-law, Jackie McNamee; sister-in-law, Delores Pietrantonio and her husband, Tony Pietrantonio; and a special nephew, Larry Pietrantonio.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21 from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:30am at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr.
Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.
