Josephine M. Freeman, 85, of Kingsford, passed away on Sunday, Feb 17th surrounded by family. Josephine was born Oct 27, 1933 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Bertrand) DiBiase. She has been a lifelong resident of this area and married Robert Freeman in 1954 at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain.

Josephine was a bus driver for the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Transit for many years. Although she retired years ago, many of her students kept in contact with her and is still known as their “favorite bus driver”. She touched the lives of everyone she met and was known to all as Gramma Jo.

She loved playing cards, her trips to the casino, all the family parties, and dancing. She will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and kindness toward everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1995.

Josephine is survived by her children, Patti (Dean) Petschar of Iron Mountain, Bob (Linda) Freeman of Niagara, Mary (Bob) Wells of Kingsford, Dale (Wendy) Freeman of Marquette; sister Janet Friedman of Kingsford, grandchildren, Amy Petschar, Jayme (Sarah) Petschar, Chase (Megan) Freeman, Cassandra Freeman, Tony (Annie) Wells, Jason Wells, Kelsey Freeman, Tim (Sara) Coron, Erin (Jim) Martin, Sara Coron, Dale, Megan, Kristin, Josh, Justin, Sisters-in-law Edna (Putsen) Dennis and Donna LeGault along with 14 great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her closest friend Gerri Weber of Aurora. Visitation will be held from 8:30-10:30 am Thursday, Feb 21st at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am Thursday at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr Joseph Gouin will off the Mass of Christian Burial. Condolences to the family of Josephine Freeman many be expressed online at www.
