James Richard Michels Sr. “POPS” Of Holt passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the age of 75 surrounded by family. He was born on October 29, 1942 to Basil and Mildred Michels of St. Johns. Pops worked hard his whole life retiring from Wohlerts Corporation with over 30 years.

When Pops was younger he would spend his time on the weekends racing at Onondaga and was overjoyed when it was finally reopened. Preceding him in death were his parents, Basil Michels and Mildred Barr; brothers, Stanley and Larry Michels.

He is survived by his children, David, Kenneth (Joletta), James Jr., Mark (Lacey), Elizabeth and Brenda Michels; sister, Vicki (Vern) Cook. He also has several grandchildren and great grandchildren with several nieces and nephews. According with his wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service honoring his life will be held at a later date.
