James H. Harron, 93, of Palmer Township, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 in Above & Beyond Mountain View, Allentown. Born October 26, 1925 in Pottsville, PA, he was a son of the late James W. and Mildred G. (Fisher) Harron. He and his wife, Marjorie L. (Bruce) Harron, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on August 14, 2018.

James graduated from Nazareth High School Class of 1943. He received a B.S. in Health & Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University where he played football. James served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He retired in 1983 from Wilson Area School District where he was a teacher for 35 years. He taught in many capacities and coached soccer at the high school. James enjoyed woodworking and camping, and was an avid sports fan.

He was waterfront director at youth camps. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Easton Forest 35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by a daughter, Beth J. Harron, of South Whitehall Township; two sons, Kim Harron and his wife Gwen, of Lake Tomahawk, WI and J. Brad Harron and his wife Tammy, of Wilson Borough; eight grandchildren, Shane Swanson and his wife Kait, Alexa Steinour and her husband Jake, Cheyanne, Sierra and Jax Swanson, Amanda, Ashley and Jamie Harron; a great-granddaughter, Julianna Swanson; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Julia L. Swanson, and a brother, John “Jack” Harron. A graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday in the Chapel of Serenity at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd.
