Obituary for Jami Lee Hymer RICHMOND, Ind. – Jami Lee Hymer, age 62, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Born November 9, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to Ralph L. and Zona Joy Roberts Hymer, Jami lived in Richmond most of his life.

He eventually graduated from Richmond High School after dropping out due to extreme bullying. Jami later attended IU East, where he received a merit honor in photography. Jami served in the Indiana Army National Guard.

He helped rebuild transmissions at A-1 Transmissions with his stepfather, David. Jami belonged to TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, where he was the top loser in Indiana. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially lakes, where he fished with his nephews and friend, Phillip Taylor Sr. Jami had a passion for photography.

He loved animals, including his dog, Lana and cat, Mittens and playing billiards. Although life was difficult for Jami, he was always generous to a fault and could bring a smile to anyone’s face. Survivors include his mother, Zona Joy (David) Christopher of Richmond; sister, Dana (Herschel) Wilson of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Timothy (Grace) Hymer of Richmond; niece, Alisa (Brent McCollum) Caldwell of McCordsville, Indiana; nephews, Chuck (Tammy) Whitaker of Richmond, Shane Wilson of Dayton, and Gabriel (Jenny) Hymer and Daniel Hymer, both of Minnesota; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessica, Ashley, Darian, Dakota, Zachary, Olivia, Will, Zoey, Zyana, and Ellie; great-great-niece, Augusta; great-great-nephews, Will and Myron; 19 paternal cousins; and many friends, including the love of his life, Sheri Harper of Richmond.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal uncle, Hansford Wayne Roberts; paternal aunt, Betty Hurst; and paternal uncles, Glen, Robert, Ralph, David, and Dean Hymer. Visitation for Jami Lee Hymer will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev.

Lynn R. Morey and Rev. Paul R. Register officiating. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
