Obituary for Jane Marion Clampitt Jane Marion (Brown) Clampitt, 101, died Monday June 18, 2018, at Gramercy Hill in Lincoln, NE. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 25th at All Faiths Funeral Home with Daniel D. Naranjo officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Jane Marion was born on the family farm, January 23, 1917 in Alda to Robert and Agnes (McCaw) Brown. Jane grew up in Alda and graduated from Alda High School in 1934, at the age of 17.

The following year while her mother was visiting her family in Scotland, Jane stayed home to take care of her father and brothers on the farm located on the west edge of Alda. In September 1935, Jane attended Kearney State College. After one year of college Jane was able to get a teaching certificate to teach in a Rural School.

This was all during the depression years. Jane began teaching at District 22, Northwest of Alda, in 1936, a one-room schoolhouse with eight students. Jane taught for two years at District 22.

She also taught for two years at District 42 near Cairo, NE. In 1940, Jane came to Alda School where she taught until 1946. Jane taught the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.

There were extra students during this time as the Cornhusker Ordinance Ammunitions Plant was being built. Jane was married to Robert Deforest Clampitt, May 15, 1943. Robert had joined the Army and was shipped to New Guinea Island, near Australia.

Jane continued to teach at Alda, until her husband was discharged from the service in 1946. Jane spent time being a housewife and a mother to three children, Allan, Jeanne Ann and Jim. On October 17, 1951, Robert passed away.

Jane stayed home to raise her children, until the fall of 1957 when she began to teach Kindergarten at Alda School, until May 1958. Jane continued her education during the fall and winter months, taking classes in Grand Island. During the summer months, she attended Kearney State College.

Jane began teaching the 5th and 6th grades at Alda School from 1960-1965, when she took a Leave of Absence to take care of her father. Jane then returned to teaching the 5th and 6th grades at Alda School, in September 1967 and taught until she retired in 1973. She taught a total of 22 years.

Jane was a lifetime member of the Alda Methodist Church in Alda. She spent her whole life caring and loving her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jeanne (Charles) Buswell of Lincoln; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; sons, Allan and Jim; brothers, Bob and David; a great-grandson, Cody; and her longtime companion, Lawrence Marsh.
