Janell M. Wirtz passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 in St. James Healthcare. She was born Thursday, December 29, 1927, in Bassfield, Mississippi, the ninth of twelve children to Edward H. and Gay F. (Polk) Martin. She was raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota where she worked assembling Black Hills Gold jewelry.

She married twice, first to Ron Laird and later to Joe Wirtz. They both precede her in death as well as her son, Richard Laird, grandson, Kenneth Laird, granddaughter Michelle White, ten siblings and her beloved “Lacie”. Janell worked many years at Warm Springs as well as a home health worker.

She belonged to the Assembly of God Church, now the Journey Church and loved raising her flowers. Janell is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Eva Laird of Butte, Marvin and Carol Laird of Butte, daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Charlie Deshner of Butte and Arizona, grandsons, Marcus Laird and Clint Podgorski, granddaughters, Kim Laird and Misty Duffy, several great-grandchildren and her sister, Videll Moltich.
