JANET M. ‘JAN’ CHAPMAN, 78, of Springfield, passed away in her home on Friday afternoon, June 22, 2018, following several months of failing health. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 29, 1939, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Mildred (Shackett) Frey. Jan retired from the Community Blood Center following many years of service.

She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Young Women’s Mission, the O.S.U. Club, and was one of the original docents at the… Read More » Westcott House. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Robert M. Chapman; her children, Tracey (John) Nave of Dublin and Ken (Tonda) Colvin of Springfield; Bob’s children, Todd (Teresa) Chapman, Tracy (Keith) Tomlinson, Tim (Pam) Evancho, Susan (Mitchell) Julien, Julie (Tom) Stoner, and Lori (Bill) Ferriell; a brother, William Frey of Georgetown, Texas; 18 grandchildren including Kenisha (Andrew) Arnst, Kendall Colvin and his fiance’, Cora Carpenter, and Jacob and Joey Nave; and a great granddaughter, Sophia. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Jan’s funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in High St. United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven Fewell officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family encourages that memorial contributions be made to High St. United Methodist Church, the Westcott House or the Young Women’s Mission.
