JUNE H. (GREENTREE) PETRIE-RATLIFF, 94, of Springfield went to her heavenly home on July 27, 2018 at Hearth & Home on Harding Road following a brief illness. She was born June 3, 1924 in Springfield. She married John Petrie Sr. in October, 1944 and was married to him for fifty four years.

June worked in various positions in the Clark County Juvenile Court System and was most proud of her service as a Girls’ Probation Officer under Judge Graham, Judge Detling, Judge Digel and Judge Cole. … Read More » She retired from her career at the Job and Family Services of Clark County. June was a Master Gardener whose love of gardening was passed on to her two children.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. Many of her sleepless nights were spent on baking cookies. She had spent many hours at her church making quilts for babies with aids.

Later in her life, June met and married Kermit Ratliff after a blind date and three months of courtship. She spent seven happy years with him traveling, gardening and just enjoying each other. Survivors include one daughter, Judy A. Potts of Springfield; one son, John E. (Sandy) Petrie of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Sean Petrie of Austin, Texas, Brian (Caitlin) Petrie of Howard, Ohio, Holly and Heidi Scott of Columbus, Greg (Shannon) Potts of Spokane, Washington, Scott (Melissa) Potts of Springfield, Brad (Sarah) Potts of Lima, Ohio, Doug (Janet) Potts of Cape Coral, Florida and Richard (Angela) Potts of Columbus and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John E. Petrie Sr.; second husband, Kermit Ratliff and son-in-law, Dr. Richard D. Potts. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 12-1 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of June’s life will begin at 1 pm with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Children’s Garden, Hollandia Gardens Association, PO Box 235, Spfld, OH 45501 or Clark County Humane Society, 5201 Urbana Rd, Spfld, OH 45502. The family would like to thank Hearth & Home for the loving care June received while she made it her home and also to Hospice of Miami Valley and Dr. Richard Darr for making her final hours comfortable.
