WILLIAM SHERMAN PAUGH, 81, of South Vienna, went home on Saturday evening, June 9, 2018. He was born in West Mansfield, Ohio on June 24, 1936, the son of the late Ivan and Esther (Nunamaker) Paugh. Sherman graduated from Northeastern High School where he was active in all sports, was MVP of the football team in his senior year and set the school mile record at the state track meet at 4.

He was a member and trustee at Nation Chapel United Methodist Church where he married his beautiful bride of 60 years, Carolyn S. (Markley) on July 12, 1957. Sherman loved his family and was excited to see his granddaughter, Sophie play basketball and softball and remained a loyal Northeastern fan.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children, Carol Lynn (Bill) Snyder of Woodland Park, Colorado, Greg Paugh of Mechanicsburg and Camie Paugh of South Vienna; five grandchildren, Trenton, Treena (Scott), Jenny (Rob), Kara, and Sophie; and four great grandchildren, Justus, Faith, Norah, and Madison. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Kathryn Hall of South Charleston and Marjory Paugh of Jamestown; a brother, Donald (Holly) Paugh of Duluth, Minnesota; in-laws, Janet Paugh, Ted Markley, Miriam Jackey, Barb (Don) Mefford, and Doug (Kay) Markley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and life-long friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Robert and Richard Paugh.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Sherman’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. Bill Snyder officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Somerford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Nation Chapel United Methodist Church, 13730 S.R. 56, Mechanicsburg, OH 43044.
