Jean Nyby November 01, 1931 – March 12, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Lois Jean Nyby (Jean) passed away on March 12, 2019 in Billings at the age of 87 and will be missed by all that knew her. Jean was the daughter of Hugh & Alta Snively and was born in St. Xavier, Montana. She attended grade school at St. Xavier Public School and received her teaching degree at Eastern Montana College in Billings.

After graduation she taught school for one year at Hiawatha School in Dagmar, before marrying Ken Nyby and settling down to raise her five children and work 21 years as the substitute postal clerk, as well as helping Ken on the farm. Jean also kept busy helping at the Dagmar store, attending her childrens’ sporting events, crocheting and doing crafts. She is survived by four children – Bob (Debby) Nyby; Bruce “Rocky” Nyby (Carol); Donna (Curtis) Heisler; Daryl (Shannon) Nyby and daughter-in-law Diane Nyby.

Jean is also survived by her sister, Lennie (Larry) Haug and ten grandchildren & five great grandchildren. Proceeding her in death were her husband, her parents, three brothers (James “Bud”, Kenneth & Howard), one sister (Darlene), her nephew, Jim Snively, and her oldest son, William “Bill” Hugh Nyby. The family would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Morning Star of Billings for the love and care that they extended not only to our mom but to our whole family.

Also, we would like to express our appreciation to the staff of Stillwater Hospice, who helped guide us through mom’s final journey. A memorial to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at 1PM on Friday, March 15th, 2019 at Morning Star of Billings, 4001 Bell Avenue and a funeral service will be 11AM Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Nathanael Lutheran Church with Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in Jean’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3010 11th Avenue North, Billings, MT 59101-0726 or the charity of your choice.
