Jean’s Obituary Frances Georgene “Jean” Redford, 97, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the Grover C. Redford Jr. Endowment Scholarship Fund at Missouri Valley College in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Friends may sign the online register book at www.

campbell-lewis.com Born October 17, 1921, in Blackburn, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ben L. Curtius and Sarah Frances Maddox Curtius. She attended Blackburn schools, graduating from high school in 1938. In 1941, she enrolled at Missouri Valley College where she met Grover Redford.

On March 31, 1943 they were married just before he left to serve in the Marine Corps in World War II. After the war, they lived in Hardin and Independence before moving to Marshall when Grover was hired as a coach at Missouri Valley College. While raising her family, Jean continued taking courses and graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1962.

She started teaching and taught 2nd or 4th grade for 22 years in the Marshall School District. Jean’s interests were reading, bridge and sports. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

She served her church for many years as the coordinator for funeral meals and delivering Meals-on-Wheels. She was a member of Delta Zeta, D.A.R., Missouri Retired Teachers Association, MVC Women’s Hall of Fame and Chapter JS P.E.O. Survivors include on two sons, Grover C. Redford III of Blue Springs and Tom Lawrence Redford of Austin, TX; three grandchildren, Tom E. Redford and wife Kelly, Suzanne Siems and husband Shawn and Beth Shrout and husband Kenny; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Redford. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Grover on March 25, 1995; one son, William David Redford; a daughter-in-law, Alice Redford; two sisters; and four brothers.
