Ronald’s Obituary Ronald Maynard Hannon, 74 years old, of Chester, VA passed away at his home on January 1, 2019. He was born on October 21, 1944, to John Maynard and Wanda (Williams) Hannon of Slater, MO. Maternal grandparents were Jesse and Bessie (Pope) Williams, formerly of Armstrong.
Paternal grandparents were John Horace and Margaret Elaine (Beeler) Hannon formerly of Glasgow. Parents and grandparents have preceded Ron in death. Ron grew up in Slater, Missouri and attended Slater Public Schools.
He graduated with the class of 1962. A few months later he entered the U.S. Army and served until 1965. In the fall of 1965, he continued his education at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
On August 24, 1968, he married Linda Louise Colson, daughter of William S. and Polly (Cleek) Colson of Gilliam, Missouri. To this union three children were born; Becky Annette, Bethni Alicia and Mark Travis. In 1973, Ron reentered military service with the MO National Guard.
In 1978, he began his civil service career, working with the Dept. of Agriculture, Dept of the Army and the Dept of Defense. As he traveled with his civilian job, he served in various National Guard/Reserve Units across the U.S. Ron retired from military service in 2004 with the rank of Lt.
Colonel and from civil service in 2005. Lt Colonel Hannon(retired) is a member of the Richmond, Virginia Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Surviving Ron is his wife, Linda of the home; daughter Becky(Gavin), Chloe, Claudia, Cassandra and Ezekiel Boyd of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter Bethni(Richard), Ava, Abigail, and Audrey Lee of Rougemont, North Carolina; son Mark(Tonya) and Jeremiah of South Chesterfield, Virginia.
Also surviving is Ron’s sister, Barbara Hannon Aulgur of Schaumberg, Illinois her children and grandchildren; John, Sean, Darrion and Katina Aulgur. He has a number of cousins and extended family members in the Saline County area. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at Campbell Lewis Chapel in Marshall, Missouri, with Dr. Rick Durham officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. He will be interred with military rites at Sunset Gardens in Marshall, Missouri.
